Halloween Makeup Look - Sultry Sorceress

Monday 28 October 2013

Halloween is my favourite Holiday of the year, I've always loved dressing up and carving pumpkins and sitting around eating tea by candlelight. I thought I'd go for something fairly simple, no false lashes or face paint, just regular makeup I had lying around in my drawers (although I would love to do something a little more complicated, I don't have any paints or brushes for it!) I thought I'd go for a classic dark, smoky eye and red lip. I've called it Sultry Sorceress but you could probably use it for a multitude of spooky personas like a vampire, a cat if you add a nose and whiskers,  the list could go on!

I started off by putting on my usual primer, concealer and foundation base although they aren't pictured above as they aren't really important to the whole look. I then filled in my eyebrows with the black shade in my HD Brows palette (ok... I forgot to include that along with my eyeshadow primer, but it's gone dark now and you all know what they look like!) primed my eyelids and applied the darkest shade of the Bourjois Smoky Eye Trio using my MAC 239 to my eye lid and under my eyes. I then topped that up with the black from my brow palette and then blended the edges with my MAC 217 brush to make them softer using the medium grey shade in my eye trio. I then applied the lightest shade above my crease and as a highlight towards my brow bone and in the inner corners of my eyes.

I used the Maybelline Gel Liner to line my waterline and tightline using an angled brush and also to line along my eyelid and create a thick cat eye flick. Then I curled my lashes using my MAC Full Lash Curler and applied one coat of Clinique's Lash Building Primer followed by one coat of Benefit's Bad Gal Lash on the top and bottom to really thicken my lashes and finally two coats of Seventeen's Doll'd Up mascara to lengthen them and give them some va va voom. I dabbed a bit of Barry M's Dazzle Dust in Charcoal in the middle of my eyelid to add a touch of sparkle and then popped a bit of Rimmel's Soft Kohl Kajal Pencil under my eyes to make them a little more dramatic.

I wanted to keep my skin fairly basic so I just applied Dainty Doll's blush in Money Talks along my cheek bones to create a slightly more sculpted effect. Finally, I slicked on MUA Shade 1 lipstick and dabbed some black eyeshadow in the middle of my lips to make them a little darker and more suited to Halloween.

Are you dressing up for Halloween?
