Garnier Micellar Water | Review

Sunday 9 March 2014

I picked this up a few weeks ago when my L'Oreal Micellar Solution had ran out as I'd heard good things about the Garnier Micellar Water and thought I'd give it a go. I paid £4.99 for the bottle which is pretty good as it's double the size of the L'Oreal version for the exact same price.

For starters, I definitely prefer the packaging of this one as the dispenser is more controlled and I don't waste any product when I tip it up to use it which is an issue I had with the L'Oreal version. It is fairly bulky but I quite like the pink theme so I don't mind it taking up a little more space on my dressing table.

Despite the ingredients for both the L'Oreal and Garnier Micellar waters being the same, I am leaning towards the Garnier one as my favourite. I'm not sure why I feel there's a difference, but it seems like there's less residue on my skin after using the Garnier one and my skin feels more thoroughly cleansed too.
It's hypoallergenic so it doesn't irritate or dry my skin out after using it and when I go over my skin with my toner afterwards, it has done a good job of removing all of my makeup so if I'm feeling lazy at night, I don't worry too much if I don't use any products afterwards.

The only negative I have found is that it isn't great at removing stubborn eye makeup. If I have only a little bit of mascara and eyeliner on then it can deal with it but if I've gone for a more smokey or heavy look, I'm left with serious panda eyes in the morning so I've been using my Nivea Eye Makeup Remover for the days when I've gone to town on my eyes.

Overall, I'm pleased that I purchased it and I enjoy using it as a quick way to remove my makeup in the evening. The bottle says you'll get 200 uses from it and I've not been keeping count but it already feels like it's lasting me longer comparatively than the L'Oreal version which seemed to go down really quick.
I'm not sure I'd repurchase it immediately after it runs out, I'd quite like to try out other products first and maybe give the Micellar waters a break for a bit but don't hold me to that!

  1. Oooh I've been wanting to try this for ages now. I really love Bioderma, but it's so pricey to buy here in the UK so this would be such a better alternative. Your little boy is absolutely beautiful Kat xx

    1. I have never tried Bioderma, I can't compare the high street versions to it but they seem to do a decent job so I don't see any reason to spend more than I need to on one! And thank you lovely :-) xx

  6. I really want to try this! I'm currently using the L'Oreal one but have the same problem as you and always find that too much product comes out. When it runs out I'm definitely going to try the Garnier one...especially as you get more in a bottle too!

  7. I've never tried this but it's the type of product that's right up my street as I often resort to makeup wipes which I know is a big 'no no'. Thanks for the review, since it's well priced I'll def give it a go to see if I like it :) x

  9. I've actually been loving this cleanser, I used to be a die hard Bioderma fan but this is the closest dupe I've found, it might be just as good, luckily it's so much cheaper :)

  10. I have this waiting to be used next, annoying that it doesn't remove eye make-up fully but it does still sound nice! :)
