Review | Seascape Island Apothecary Peppermint Oil Lip Balm

Wednesday, 17 July 2013

I tend to favour lip balms over lipsticks as I find them more comfortable on my lips. This means I have a range of lip balms that I have scattered in my dressing table, across the house and stuffed into pockets in my handbag. You'd think that I had enough but, no. That could never be the case.

What interested me about this Seascape Peppermint Oil Lip Balm* is that it's made from all natural ingredients;100% natural Peppermint essential oil plus it has no Parabens, Silicones, SLS or artifical fragrances. Although if a product does have any of these, it won't necessarily always put me off.

The balm comes packed in a cute little box that for some reason pleases me because of the way the lid opens... The balm itself is contained in a weighty glass pot. This is one thing I don't really like in a lip balm or any product for that matter, I'm a bit of a germ freak and I don't like that I have to wash my hands before I feel happy to apply this to my lips. It makes it a little less handbag friendly as it's not really convenient for me to use on the go.

That being said, I've been more than happy to pop this on my lips after I've had a shower or before I apply lipstick or gloss as it makes a lovely base for it to glide onto and stops the lipstick from dragging along my lips and clinging to any dry patches because they've all been hydrated by the balm.

When I first used it, it was quite hard to get any product onto my finger  and I had to swirl it a few times to get a decent amount to apply to my lips. After a few uses it is now much easier to use and it only takes a couple of swipes to get the right amount.

I absolutely love the fresh peppermint scent when I've applied this. It's not overpowering at all and it smells really fresh and not artificial in the slightest. It leaves my lips feeling smooth and soft and it's nice to apply before bed so that you wake up with the balm absorbed and your lips feeling hydrated.

I've yet to try this when my lips are at their driest but come the winter months I'll be popping this on frequently to see how it does when they're more chapped.

You can grab this balm on Beauty Expert for £10 and free delivery.
