I've never been hugely interested in BB Creams, I'd heard mixed reviews; some saying that they come out far too orange on their skin or that it's not long lasting enough.
I've tried a sample of a Maybelline BB Cream and wasn't impressed, I wasn't a huge fan of the consistency of the product or how it felt on my skin and being on a budget, I didn't bother to try out any other brands.
I think it's an adventurous product to try and get right for everyone as everyone's skin has different requirements and trying to formulate a product that can be 5-in-1 to match a variety of skin tones and moisturise as well is definitely going to be hit and miss.
The Decleor BB Cream* claims that it does the following:
1. Moisturises for 24 hours
2. Illuminates and evens out the complexion
3. Refines the skin texture and corrects blemishes
4. Protects against UVA/UVB rays, SPF 15
5. Protects against urban pollution
On first impression, the Cream comes out a peachy colour that is darker and more pink than my skin-tone. It's got quite a thick consistency yet doesn't feel greasy or too heavy.
Upon application, it blends seamlessly into my skin and leaves it feeling hydrated yet not sticky or tacky for ages afterwards.
Now to run through the points above; I can't say I could tell if a product moisturises my skin for 24 hours as I have usually removed my makeup within that time. However, during a days wear my skin never feels dry nor does it get an oily sheen, even in the hot weather we've had recently.
I definitely feel that the Cream brightens my skin, it doesn't have any highlighting particles in it though so I wouldn't say it "illuminates" it but it does make my skin look fresh and healthy. I don't really have any seriously uneven patches on my skin so it's hard to say quite how well this works if you had slightly more problematic skin but it evens it out so I don't have any dull patches or any red areas around blemishes.
It's only very light coverage, so I wouldn't use this on a day where I was having a breakout but for slight scars or dull patches on my face, this works wonderfully. I've been wearing it everyday for about a week now as it's light and natural looking and I don't feel like I'm wearing anything on my skin which is perfect for the warmer weather.
A bonus for me about this is the added SPF 15. I'd recently picked up a Garnier moisturiser (see post here) as I said above, perfect for these sunny days but it's also useful to protect your skin all year round.
Finally, to be honest, I'm not quite sure how this protects against 'urban pollution' or exactly what that entails but I'm glad that it's making measures towards preventing whatever damage it may cause, haha!
It has a fruity fragrance when you squeeze it out of the tube but this doesn't linger on your face. I can't quite put my finger on what it reminds me of but I find it pleasant anyway.
The Decleor BB Cream retails for £29 for 40ml of product and can be purchased at lookfantastic for this price with free delivery.
Have you tried any BB Creams? What's your favourite type of coverage?
