I've been quiet on the blogging front this week, I've been pretty busy for once! A friend came over from Holland and so I've been down at my parents most of the week and then have been busy sorting the house out for the little ones arrival in less than a month. I can't believe how quick my pregnancy has gone!
Anyway, I've made a few little buys this month, nothing too extravagant but a few nice staple items for Spring/Summer.
L - You are My Sunshine R- Money Talks |
I picked up the shades "You Are My Sunshine" and "Money Talks". You Are My Sunshine is a gorgeous peachy-gold shade and adds a lovely amount of subtle shimmer upon application. It suits my skin tone really well and I've been wearing it none stop since I got it.
Money Talks is an unusual shade for a blush but I'd read it was great for contouring on fair-skinned girls so I thought I'd give it a go. It's a taupe shade with a little shimmer and I've been using it for contouring under my cheekbones.
Both shades are nicely pigmented and have a silky smooth application with good staying power. I'm planning on popping up a little review on my Dainty Doll purchases sometime this week with a little more detail and swatches.
Next are a couple of lip products, I've been meaning to experiment with brighter lips for a while and just with wearing lip products in general as it tends to be the one item of makeup I forego in the morning due to the hassle of having to reapply it throughout the day. However, I've noticed that when I do make the effort, they really bring the whole look together and can even make me feel brighter in the morning.
I grabbed Dainty Doll's "It's My Party" as I wanted something bright that I thought would suit me and it definitely doesn't disappoint, I've worn it a couple of times and it lasts for ages. I had to pick this up off eBay as there were none left on Fragrance Direct but it only cost a mere £3.
I also picked up another lip butter that I've had my eye on for quite some time - Tutti Frutti. My boyfriend has been telling me that he thought I'd really suit an orange/coral shade so I thought I'd grab one that was a bit more subtle to experiment with and see if he was right! I'd originally wanted to try out Topshop's Infrared but apparently it's no longer available? Boo. This is the same as all the other lip butters and I find the shade does suit me and it's also build-able which I like. This was on offer for £5.99 instead of the usual £7.99 at Superdrug.
Finally, a few items for the body. I got one of the No7 Skincare Vouchers for £5 off so I had a little search through my products and discovered I was in need of a new toner. I read up on a few reviews and it seemed pretty decent so I thought I'd give it a go. This cost £3 instead of £8 which you can't complain about. I've yet to try it out but I will post a review/update this post after trying it out!
Dove Summer Glow was on offer for half price at £2.50 and I wanted to give myself a bit of a glow for the mystical Spring we seem to be having. I applied this using a tanning mitt as although it's just a gradual tanner, I only ever really use them and I find they apply quicker and much more streak free than if I try slathering it all on with my hands. Plus, you get to avoid the dreaded orange palms. I have also got a mini review planned for this, so keep an eye out if you're interested.
Finally, I grabbed Barry M's Base coat, Topcoat & Nail Hardener as my nails have been in terrible condition and I've been neglecting to give them a base coat for quite a few months now, oops. This is a repurchase as it's a great product for only £3.99 and it helped to keep my nails from staining and also gives them a nice shiny topcoat. Perfect.
So, that's it for my beauty purchases this month. What have you bought this month? Do you want to try any of these out?

I love the lip-butters. They're more fun than lip balms but are just as moisturizing. :)

I always use Dove summer glow just because it is so much easier to apply a gradual tanner, and I do think they look better. Great post!
