Estee Lauder Double Wear Light | Review

Wednesday 25 March 2015

The one product I have never splurged on or bought high end is foundation. I never really wore it throughout my teens and then the first one I bought was Bourjois Healthy Mix when it first came out which I loved and re-purchased multiple times.
Then, my skin decided to stop co-operating and start breaking out. At first I thought it was just a dodgy patch but when it kept on persisting month after month, I knew I needed to find something that would really help give my skin some decent coverage and make me feel confident again.
I read SO many reviews, trying to find a foundation that would work on my combination skin without making my acne worse and in the end I decided to go for Estee Lauder's Double Wear Light in Shade 2 after it received praise from nearly every review for combo skin.
The packaging is a tube which is new for me as my previous foundations have come in a bottle. I probably prefer bottles (if they have a pump) as it's easier to get out exactly how much you want but it doesn't bother me too much.
It has quite a thick, cream consistency and I find I have to work very quick to blend it or else it can go a bit patchy and streaky. If applied correctly though, it gives me amazing semi-matte coverage that settles to an almost powder finish and it lasts all day.
It evens out my complexion covering any redness and it doesn't cling to any dry patches. It has seriously increased my confidence so much. The only bit that needed touching up with powder once throughout the day was my nose but other than that it didn't oxidize or go patchy anywhere and it did not irritate my skin at all.
I got colour matched at a counter in John Lewis and was recommended to get shade 2 but it can lean a little on the orange side if I apply it a bit heavy handed, I may try the shade lighter in future and use bronzer to give my face some life instead.
On a slight side note *touch wood* the last 3 weeks since I've been using a couple of sample tubes of Origins Original Skin Renewal Serum my skin has cleared up so much. I don't know if my skin is finally clearing or the serum has been helping immensely. Either way, when I get paid this week I'm going to grab a full size version and will pop up a review.

  1. I've been really tempted by Estee Lauder Double Wear, although I didn't realise they do a light version. I always break out and need a good coverage foundation that lasts to disguise everything. I've been using Origins Original Skin Serum lately and it's made a huge difference to my skin - i'd love to hear what you think!

    1. I really like the light version, I think the original would be too heavy on my skin but it does an amazing job of concealing any redness. I have just purchased the full size serum! Will try and get a review up this weekend :)

    1. I really recommend the light version! I've never tried the original as I thought it might be a bit "full on" but I love this one xx
